Kim Rempel
Kim Rempel is a visual artist living in Grimsby, Ontario. Over the decades she has worked in plein air, landscape, daily painting (the practice of creating a small work daily and posting them to a blog) and abstract. Rempel has exhibited multiple times at the Toronto Artist Project and the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair. In 2024, she enjoyed a three week painting residency in British Columbia. Kim is a graduate of Sheridan College's Illustration program. Rempel: "Although many things go into creating a successful painting, colour relationships are what fuel my work. What does this stroke look like against that stroke? What happens to the mood of a piece when I paint this colour beside that colour? These questions excite me and propel me to keep investigating. We view a lot of images every day but then one day, you walk by a painting and you stop. Something about it stirs you. It could be a feeling the colours are giving you or something in the subject that brings back a private memory. It’s personal. And it takes you to another place."
