VC Glennie
VC Glennie was born in London, Ontario and spent her high school years in England at Roedean, in Brighton, Sussex. Returning home to Canada, to continue her studies, she was granted a B.A. from University of Western Ontario. With an interest in combining Art with Science, she enrolled in Art As Applied to Medicine, an intensive program offered by the University of Toronto. After graduating with a B.Sc. A.A.M. she began her career as a medical illustrator in Toronto. She further continued her studies at Sheridan College, earning a certificate in Computer Animation. Her training as a computer animator took her to the Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for a year.
With a life-long interest in portraiture, she returned to Canada and set up a studio practice at The Arts Project, in downtown London, Ontario. At TAP she was involved in community art events for many years, and in its familiar surroundings, she found a sense of place.
Currently VC Glennie maintains a studio at the Artworks on Dundas Street, in the McCullochs building, in Old East London, Ontario. She lives in a rural area, on the outskirts of London where the countryside creates a peaceful backdrop for her painting; however, she continues to be drawn back to the cityscape to paint people, architecture, and the magic of city lights, all forming a heartbeat in her wo
