Mike Brouse

Brouse says about his work: I am an abstract expressionist. I am driven by the process of using brushes and squeegees and various tools to play and manipulate oil paint on a canvas. I love the medium of oil paint. Its smell and its luster. It allows me to capture movement on a surface. To build up depth through layers. To give it energy or restraint. My process begins with quick graphite and oil stick marks to activate the canvas and then I layer the colours.
