Margaret Rose Thornicroft 
Artist’s Statement
My paintings mirror my inner life, 
serving as a journal without words.
For me, painting is a means to
access feelings, sensations and 
information buried in my subconscious. 
This Spirit within, forces me to move 
through this life with greater 
stillness, awareness and compassion. 
I paint, because it brings order to 
the chaos of my life.
Through this creative process, 
it enables me to bring concrete 
thoughts onto canvas through
colour, texture and light.
I am proud to share my 
creative vision with an audience,
as I understand that it is an 
authentic communication;
grounded in real values and 
experience. My works are 
very personal pieces that 
are inspired by the people
and nature that surround me. 
My art, like morality, consists in
drawing the line somewhere.
